Disaster-reducing instruments:

They are primarily used to pray for blessings for the living, to quell disasters, and to resolve difficulties, in order to reduce sins, eliminate grievances, and clear debts owed by the soul. There are several common types:

1.The Jade Emperor Festival:

It is held on the ninth day of the first lunar month to celebrate the birthday of the Jade Emperor. Its purpose is to grant forgiveness, relieve misfortunes, and ward off evil. Through the high-ranking monks’ rituals, they invite deities to present the wishes of the believers before the throne of the Jade Emperor.

2.The Three Yuan  Ceremonies:

The Three Yuan  Ceremonies are held on the fifteenth day of the first month to celebrate the birth of the Heavenly Official (Shangyuan Festival), the fifteenth day of the seventh month for the birth of the Earth Official (Zhongyuan Festival), and the fifteenth day of the tenth month for the birth of the Water Official (Xiaoyuan Festival). The Heavenly Official Ceremony can provide blessings for longevity and seek peace and security; the Earth Official Ceremony can grant forgiveness for wrongdoings and promote mental and physical well-being; the Water Official Ceremony can dispel disasters, relieve stress, and maintain physical health.

3.Shunxing Scientific Instruments (Worshiping Tai Sui):

This is usually held from the first day to the fifteenth day of the lunar new year (except for the sixth day). The purpose is to avoid disasters, prevent harm from malicious people, block sickness, and avoid conflicts. The Tai Sui god oversees the fortunes and misfortunes of the human world for the year, and worshiping Tai Sui can pray for peace and smoothness throughout the year.
